We're seeking a General Manager to run our Portland operation. This is a player-coach role for someone who can read a P&L statement and handle a dispatch crisis at 7:00 AM. You'll own the financial performance of the branch, personally drive business development with realtors and commercial partners, and build a team that delivers exceptional service to our customers.

The right person thrives on variety. One hour you're reviewing job costing reports, the next you're conducting a field estimate for a high-value move, then you're having coffee with a realtor to build a referral relationship. You are the decision-maker across operations, sales, and people, supported by an Assistant Operations Manager who handles daily execution and an HR Generalist who handles administration. You balance quality, efficiency, and volume without sacrificing one for the others.

Responsibilities:

  • Operations - Oversee dispatch and scheduling strategy to maximize crew utilization. Own fleet management, DOT compliance, and vehicle readiness. Manage vendor relationships and ensure warehouse operations support field needs. Serve as decision-making backup for daily operations with an Assistant Operations Manager handling 8-5 execution. Drive claims mitigation through quality standards and rapid settlement.
  • Sales & Business Development - Personally build and maintain referral relationships with realtors, property managers, and commercial accounts. Conduct field estimates for complex and high-value moves. Oversee the sales team's performance against revenue targets and monitor conversion quality. Own reputation management including Google Reviews.
  • People Management - Serve as the decision-maker for hiring, promotions, and performance management across operations and sales, with HR handling administration. Maintain an always-hiring mentality to build bench strength. Own workplace safety and OSHA compliance. Build culture through huddles, recognition, and crew morale initiatives.
  • Strategic Planning & Reporting - Participate in leadership meetings and complete quarterly priorities. Conduct monthly P&L reviews and present to ownership. Review job costing reports and investigate variances. Monitor labor percentage, margins, and cash flow standards.

This role reports directly to the CEO/Visionary.

Work Environment:

Full-time position based on-site in Portland, Oregon. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring field presence for estimates, business development, and customer interactions. You will split time between office-based management work and being out in the field with crews, customers, and referral partners.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years progressive operations management experience, preferably in moving, logistics, or service industries
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership with track record of hitting financial targets
  • Experience managing teams of 15+ with multiple direct reports
  • Experience building B2B referral relationships or partnership networks
  • Strong financial literacy including job costing, labor management, and margin analysis
  • Customer-facing experience with consultative or estimate-based selling
  • Proven ability to balance quality, efficiency, and volume simultaneously
  • EOS/Traction experience strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license; willingness to drive company vehicles occasionally
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required

Compensation:

$105,000 - $140,000 total compensation including base salary and quarterly profit-sharing bonuses. Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and 401(k).
